Leonard Bernstein Bust at Tanglewood
Posted July 29, 2014
Earlier this week Tanglewood Music Fest unveiled a new monumental bust of Leonard Bernstein by sculptor Penelope Jencks. This piece is a generous gift from John Williams, the Boston Pops Orchestra Laureate Conductor and Tanglewood Artist in Residence. The work is the second in a series of sculptures by Jencks memorializing the festival’s prominent musical figures, beginning with a sculpture dedicated to Aaron Copland. Maestro Bernstein enjoyed a 50-year relationship with the festival and this new work of art is a beautiful celebration of his legacy there.
